Water Splash Stage – Bog Walk

November 10, 2011 by · Comments Off

Bog Walk in general has been a foundation stage for Rally Jamaica, as long as anyone can remember, and the Water Splash is probably the most photographed stage as it makes for great action shots. The water splash has also been the demise for many a rally car as they try to slice through the water without causing the car to totally succumbs to water ingress.

The McConnell Family are ardent rally fans and as such once a year they open the gates of their orange groves to the thousands of rally enthusiasts who end up being scattered throughout the groves trying to find the best vantage point to see the cars. He allows oranges to be picked as long as they are not removed from the property, please ensure that all spectators adhere to this rule.

The stage is very popular as the long straights, and interesting chicanes, bumpy and unstable roads make for a challenging but very entertaining stage.

Rally Jamaica Stages – Profile – Bernard Lodge

November 10, 2011 by · Comments Off

Rally Jamaica organizers have made a decision this year to return to a stage called Bernard Lodge which is in St. Catherine, it is in the midst of the cane fields of a sugar plantation called “Bernard Lodge”, the roadways are used normally to transport cane to the plant to be converted into sugar, however during Rally Jamaica 2011 it will see the likes of Gary Gregg, Richie Rerrie, Kyle Gregg and Harold Morley ripping thru the fields at thunderous speeds leaving a rooster tail of dust behind them, all vying for the coveted Rally Jamaica Trophy!!

The area is generally flat but not to be fooled, the road ways have their own little nuances of dips and valleys that will have to be skilfully manoeuvred by the competitors if they are to finish the Rally.  There are several spectator spots which will afford persons who are passionate about Rally Jamaica the opportunity to see the pinnacle of rally sport competitors at their best, ensure that you are early to pick your spot and enjoy the spectacle. The stage is characterised by long high speed straights leading into deceptive corners, the cane is now quite high as it is near to harvesting time, so the flora and fauna are the perfect setting for integration of nature’s beauty and man’s high powered inventions…..A match made in Rally Heaven!!

The return to Bernard Lodge was a sentimental decision made by the organisers as it has not been used for many many years, but for our 20th Anniversary, we wanted to use some of the original rally stages which delighted the competitors and spectators alike!!

Bernard Lodge, is located near to Kingston – please see a map with directions below.
